Er deden geruchten de ronde dat Halo een live-action film zou krijgen, geregisseerd door Ridley Scott (bekend van Prometheus). Microsoft heeft in een reactie echter uitsluitsel gegeven; er zijn geen filmplannen voor de geliefde shooterserie.

Het bedrijf geeft aan wel buiten de game-industrie te kijken om de merknaam Halo groter te maken. Als voorbeeld noemt men Halo Legends, een verzameling korte animefilms die zich in het Halo-universum afspelen, en de tv-serie Halo: Forward Unto Dawn. Jammer genoeg behoort een film dus niet tot de plannen.
